I stink pretty bad at this game which is somewhat refreshing. I will really habe to step my game up to get good as I don't have natural skill with pure racing simulations.

Learning how to read the car in response to my driving and what the environment is doing as well will be a steep curve, but I will master it with more time in the saddle.

One thing I've noticed this game is much less forgiving about is weight transfer of the car. If your car isn't properly set when you hit a corner or dip in the track, its going to throw you in a direction you don't want to go.  There's one track I always fuck up on with a slight left turn over a crest, and I'm hitting the brakes too late as I go over the hill and my ass end kicks out and I'm the grass. The first 2 or 3 laps is always like that until I remember that turn.

I find Gran Turismo and Forza were more forgiving in that aspect. The car would usually stay planted, or at the most wobble a bit.

I looked at the weight balance of the car I was running and it was 60/40, which explains why I was so loose in the rear when I did oversteer. Been testing other car balances and seem to be able to handle then better somewhat.

So here are those Mustang race cars we tried handling around the track yesterday. I set the suspension up as stiff as it'll go.  They're just terrible cars.

 

Those stock cars were SO hard to handle, man. We nred to figure out the best circuit to race those on. To my knowledge none of the oval tracks exist in the game yet.

Also, can you create a PCARS subforum under Gaming? Sounds like we are embedded enough to warrant it at this point, right?

My battle back to a podium.

Qualified 1st, had someone (*cough* @BalzOnYer4Head *cough*) take me out multiple times, but I made it back to 3rd place.  If I had another 2 laps I'd be able to catch first.

I really love the acceleration and agility of the Formula A cars.

I hope to get back on the track sooner than later; the next month is busy for me with our 16yr wedding anniversary (been together 19yrs), my 41st and fathers day, plus a couple of weddings I have to travel for. In the meantime, I am grinding away with friends and family in Destiny; plus Neal Stephenson's new book just came out, so I have to get my reading on as well.

BTW, Andy owes me breakfast. This cat came all the way down here and got turned out by Boston and had to skip breakfast. Get your whiskey game tight, son.

From last night's shenanigans. First minute or so, and from 5:20 onwards are where the action is.

Noting Balz' statement in the shoutbox about the improved AI, the first race the AI had the best lap time by about 0.1s.  Usually they're the back of the pack.

New DLC released today.  Ruapuna Park International Raceway (5 unique layouts) + Audis!

1 free Audi (A1 Quattro), plus another 3 in the paid DLC (2 LMP and the 1989 Audi 90 IMSA GTO).
